Samarkand State Medical University was founded in 1930 and is located in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Samarkand State Medical Institute (SSMI) is one of the first medical institutes in Central Asia, with over 90 years of teaching expertise in the study area of medicine. The university comprises 74 departments, 1190 classrooms, and 75 multimedia classrooms under which these faculties operate.

The university holds institutional accreditation from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan. The Samarkand State Medical Institute teaching faculty includes doctors of Medical Sciences, Professors, as well as many other famous scientists and healthcare organizers. More than 500 faculty members and academicians are currently employed as a part of the Samarkand State Medical Institute faculty.
